The Boulder Theater is a local landmark. It has gone through several incarnations since its opening as the Curran Opera House in 1906, including opera house, movie theater (dating back to the silent film era) and concert hall. Today it is a popular entertainment venue and community gathering place. The distinctive art deco facade with its terra cotta and glass tiles was added when the building was expanded and remodeled, reopening in January of 1936.
This photograph was made at twilight, just after the marquee lights were turned on. The red of the neon lights was so brilliant I could almost imagine them giving off heat.
