After a week of snow and record-breaking cold, we were definitely suffering from the Februaries – an annually-recurring condition that is a lot like cabin fever. It is brought on by an excess of gray skies and cold temperatures; neither of which is all that common in Colorado. We first learned about the Februaries from Jeff Hayward, a friend from Northampton, MA. A visit to the Denver Botanic Gardens last Saturday provided the perfect antidote. The tropical exhibits and an orchid show in the new greenhouse complex offered some excellent photographic opportunities.
