Poppy Montage

After an especially cold night recently, there were ice crystals behind the insulating shades on one of our windows. I managed to get a few photographs before they melted. This montage includes one of those ice crystal photos and a portrait of a poppy taken at Denver Botanic Gardens in the spring of 2009. The photographs were combined in Photoshop using a Soft Light blending mode. The texture imparted by the ice crystals softens the poppy and adds interest to the background.
