Oaklawn Garden, also known as Oaklawn Gardens, is a botanical garden, park and museum located at 7831 Old Poplar Pike in Germantown, Tennessee, United States. A historic residential home, erected by the original landowner in 1854, is situated on the property. Floral attractions on the 20 acres (8 ha) property consist of daffodils, azaleas and other native flowers. About 2 acres (1 ha) of Oaklawn Garden are dedicated to the cultivation of more than 300 varieties of daffodils, an effort that was started in 1924. Boxwood, oak, birch and other species of indigenous trees and shrubs represent the woody plants in the botanical garden and park. Oaklawn Garden is also home to smaller species of native wildlife. From the Wikipedia article “Oaklawn Garden”, licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0.

Milky Way & night sky
From Oaklawn Garden, the Milky Way core is visible in a dark sky from February through October. June gives the longest window (about 5.8 hours on a moonless night), and the core peaks around 26° above the southern horizon. Our light-pollution model puts the sky at about Bortle 7 (suburban / urban transition), so expect visible sky glow; drive away from towns for better results.

Window when the galactic core is at least 10° high during astronomical darkness on the 15th of each month. Pick nights within a few days of the new moon. Plan exact nights with the Milky Way planner.
Estimated sky darkness: 7 Bortle 7 — Suburban / urban transition. The whole sky has a grey-white glow; the Milky Way is invisible to the eye. Modeled zenith brightness ≈ 18.66 mag/arcsec².
