What we publish
Location pages combine official and open datasets with our own calculations. Guides are written for practical use in the field and are reviewed for accuracy against primary sources (agency regulations, scientific formulas, manufacturer data).
Sources and attribution
Every data set is listed with its license on the data sources page. Photos and text excerpts from Wikimedia Commons, Wikipedia, iNaturalist and the National Park Service are credited on the page where they appear.
Computed data
Light and sky tables are generated with standard astronomical algorithms; sky darkness uses a published population-based model. We label estimates as estimates.
Corrections
If you find an error — a wrong coordinate, an outdated rule, a closed road — please contact us. We correct verified errors in the next site update and note significant changes on the page.
Independence
Advertisers and affiliate partners have no influence on which places, products or tools we cover.
