Online Kaleidoscope Maker

Creative · free · runs in your browser

Turn a flower, a leaf or any photo into a kaleidoscope in seconds. Choose 4 to 24 reflections (or a square four-way mirror), pan and rotate the source, and download a high-resolution PNG or JPG. Your image never leaves your device — everything happens in the browser.

It is the browser successor to the classic layered Photoshop kaleidoscope templates — same 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 16 reflections, but live, adjustable and free.

How to make a kaleidoscope image

  • Drop a photo onto the panel (or click to choose one). Close-ups of flowers, leaves, feathers and textures work best.
  • Pick the number of reflections. Even numbers keep every wedge mirrored so the seams disappear.
  • Use Pan and Rotate to move a different part of the photo into the wedge — small moves change the pattern completely.
  • Use Zoom to choose how much detail ends up in each wedge.
  • Export at 2048 or 4096 px for prints. PNG keeps transparency outside the circle.

Radial vs. square kaleidoscopes

A radial kaleidoscope copies a wedge of angle 360° ÷ n around the center, mirroring every other copy — like a classic toy kaleidoscope with a mirror pair. A square kaleidoscope reflects one quadrant left-right and top-bottom, producing a four-way symmetric tile similar to a mirror box. Radial designs read as mandalas; square ones look like tiles or textiles.

From Photoshop templates to the browser

Kaleidoscope effects used to need layered Photoshop templates with 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 or 16 reflections: you pasted your image into a template, scaled it and flattened the result. This tool does the same geometry live in the browser, so you can explore dozens of variations before exporting. Read the full kaleidoscope photography guide for subject ideas.

FAQ

Is the kaleidoscope maker free?
Yes. There is no sign-up or watermark, and images are processed only on your device.
What resolution can I export?
Up to 4096 × 4096 pixels. The useful detail depends on your source image — a 24 MP photo comfortably fills a 4096 px kaleidoscope.
Why use an even number of reflections?
With an even count every wedge borders its mirror image, so the pattern is seamless. Odd counts leave one visible seam.
What subjects make the best kaleidoscopes?
Flowers, leaves, frost, feathers, architectural details and colorful textures. Strong color and fine detail near the wedge edge give the most intricate results.
