Buying a used camera? The shutter count tells you how much the shutter has been used. Drop an original, unedited photo straight from the camera — the tool reads the maker notes and reports the count where the camera stores it (Nikon and many Fujifilm bodies). For other brands it tells you the method that works.

FAQ
Why doesn't it work for my Canon or Sony?
Many Canon models don't store the count in image files, and Sony encrypts it. See your camera's page in our database for the method.
Why must the photo be unedited?
Editors and social networks often drop the maker notes where the count is stored.
